hey boys and girls. i was wondering where the local fresh water fishing is? I normally fish at the small ponds on base but that's around a 20 minute drive from where i live in mechanicsville. anyone know of a good spot around here? i mainly fish for bass

You realize Gilbert run is a large lake?

Your choices are limited to St. Marys Lake, Gilbert Run or getting to know some locals with farm ponds.

That's Wheatley Lake, at Gilbert Run Park, off Hwy 6 between Charlotte Hall and LaPlata. If they've locked the gates already you can park outside them (but don't block the garbage transfer station) and walk in.
