Lived in an old farmhouse that was converted to apartments. I had an end unit, 2 bedroom unit which could hold a small dresser and a single bed. 1 clothes closet off the living room. Heat basically non existent, electric iffy (breaker box was in the next unit which I had a key for emergencies), used the gas stove for heat alot of the time. Many a winter morning I would get up and find an icicle hanging off the tub spout. Fun times :)

That was the year the bay froze over - I remember as a kid going to Pt Lookout and seeing the chunks of ice which as a kid seemed to be 12” thick.
I worked outside much of that winter installing duct banks in monkey county, ground was frozen to about 34 inches or so. Jack hammers have a way about keeping you warm though. Lots of scalding hot McDonald's coffee helped too. It sucked!

All these stories about cold weather and snow. I wonder how people that live in Alaska survive and work in the cold up there?

Never been to Alaska, but from working up in the great white north in -20 and below temperatures… You just put on your black lined Carhartts, full mask and a pair of gloves and get to work.

I just got off the phone with SMO and for my address in Southern PG which has an extra ENERGY TAX (which I hope was already included in the price she just quoted me), I was quoted $3.99 a gallon.
