The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office again urges citizens to be vigilant and to keep your vehicles locked, day or night. It's not guaranteed to stop a thief, but it's the best deterrent. If you must leave anything of value in your vehicle, keep it out of sight and do not leave loose change or other personal items out in plain view in cup holders or ash trays.
