This morning I bought (at vitaminshoppe.com):

Avocado Oil
Sweet Almond Oil
Raw Shea Butter
Feverfew (liquid)
Grapeseed Oil
Pure Vitamin C Powder
Sunflower Oil
Organic Castile Soap
Pure Vegetable Glycerin

The idea is to make my own organic face cream, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner. I've been using olive oil with tea tree oil as a moisturizer for awhile. Switched back recently to a face cream I got from Sephora and promptly broke out all across my forehead.

Once I receive my ingredients, it will be time to start mixing potions until I come up with the perfect blend.

If your face catches on fire, turns into a prune or causes global warming more than it does now... :tap:

Maybe you better test this on Claudia before you use it...?

I think we should have ladies days experimenting with stuff like that. With a few drinks in us, who knows what wonderful concoction we could come up with!

I think that's a great idea! Much better than that dumb idea Larry came up with above.

I've also been using honey and sugar as a face scrub, and I like it a lot better than the stuff you buy commercially.

Dumb idea? You don't see me trying to make gasoline from scratch. Or fuel oil. Well, ok, fuel oil, but still, I am not the one trying to reinvent the wheel here, my dear. :tap:

Yeah. Use them as guinea pigs. Please, Vrai, do NOT risk THE face! Please!!!

What are you talking about??? These are all organic ingredients. If anything is bad for you, it's the chemicals they put in commercial beauty products.

Want MK and I to come over and show you how to make laundry detergent?

Do you use colored towels or wash cloths on your face?

"Feverfew" Do you even know what that is? It was invented by NASA and was used by the Greeks to burn holes in the walls of Troy and give themselves erections lasting longer than four hours.

I swear, you are setting up the female version of "Hold m'ah beer and watch this!"

POOF!!!!!!!!!!! Your face is stuck to the ceiling. :tap:

I love almond oil. :yay: I get some sort of reaction to most of the scrubs, lotions and cleansers I buy.

Also, I got a pedicure the other day which I generally do myself. The girl told me the best moisturizer for your feet (heels especially) is castor oil. :yay:

Good - I'm glad you're here!

Do you make your own skincare products? If so, what recipes do you use?

No but I use Basics soap and a wash cloth to wash (2xs a day) and Triderma (sp?) lotion (made with virgin aloe, its good but stinks to high heaven!). I recently had a terrible break out which I thought was poison ivy. After a few weeks of it I doubt that was it. I think my skin is just getting super sensative.

Not yet - give me time to embrace my inner hippie with skincare stuff first.

I used colored towels but my skin, like the rest of me, isn't particularly sensitive. I like making things and I'm a cheapo, so saving umpteen $$$ on beauty products is right up my alley.

Mine wasn't. :cds: The name of the soap is Basis not Basics. The face lotion isn't cheap at all but it cleared me up really nicely. Let me know how it works, MK and I toyed with making our own soap. I agree that the less chemical crap you put on your skin the better.
