Lollar sure doesn't give up! Charles County would be so lucky to have him as a commissioner, imo.
----------------------------
"With the withdrawal of Republican candidate for District I Commissioner J.T. Crawford July 7, Charles Lollar, who ran an unsuccessful bid for governor in the Maryland primary election, has filed to run against Democratic candidate Ken Robinson in the November General Election.

Lollar filed to run the same day Crawford withdrew his name from the race.

Lollar also ran against Rep. Steny Hoyer for Congress in 2010.

“I’ve never believed in career politicians,” Lollar said. “As a businessman and ex-Marine officer, I know some of the things to do to turn our state round in short order.”

Lollar said his campaign for commissioner was precipitated by Crawford’s withdrawal. “Folks here in Charles County, J.T. Crawford and Collins Bailey, said they needed someone to run,” he added.

The Newburg resident said he feels he can implement plans he intended to enact as governor on a local level. “My honest goal [running for governor] was to bring more business for our state,” Lollar said. “If I can do that for Charles County, then perhaps those who didn’t support me in my campaign for governor will see what we can do on a local level.”

Lollar has lived in Charles County for 11 years with his wife of 21 years and four daughters.

“Politics for me, is something … I believe you become a public servant,” he stated. “You give something back to your community or state, realizing the massive amount of taxes and the poor quality of life some have in our state. As a former Marines Corps officer and businessman, I felt it was my duty to get involved. I was called into politics for this time. I think the citizens would like to see and have the opportunity to have our vision for Maryland here in Charles County, to show the state of Maryland what Charles County can do.”

Robinson said he wasn’t surprised when he heard Lollar had entered the race. “We will run a vigorous fall campaign regardless of who my Republican opponent is,” he stated. “I had heard inklings, that commissioner was his backup plan, so I was not shocked.”

Will he just go away if he loses? This is his third race. Is it three strikes and he's out?

Why should he go away if he loses? He is, obviously, dedicated to the people, and tenacious, to say the least. He should run for anything anytime he wants. Someday, people will wake up and smell the need for new blood; instead of re-electing the same olds that give us the same old. JMO

That's probably why Robinson came within 61 votes of the Democrats showing him the door during the primary. You could just feel the love that day.

Well come on now, Graves is a former police officer from the county Sheriff's office, with what I imagine is a much longer family history in that county than Georgetown, DC transplant Robinson. Robinson's only saving grace was the rabid greenie-weenie voting bloc. I'm not sure if the fight was really fair.

I'm not saying he should or shouldn't. How is it obvious he is dedicated to the people? Is it because he has run for office three times or something else?

That is a fair question, and good point. I have met him, listened to him, read his words, and just generally have a good feeling about him. But, in reality, we don't know how someone will operate unless they are elected to office. We sure have learned that, haven't we!

You'd reach a conclusion like that based on those extremely thin pieces, clearly written by someone with an agenda? About the only "neutral" one was about an unpaid campaign bill. Good grief..campaigns end up with more bills than money more often than not..everywhere.

Umm, yea. It's really more about his responses to these dealings. There are disparities that show up in other articles I've read about him. IMO, a guy with an MBA should be able to explain these things and not head for the "no comment option".

What do you have to help prove he's a wonderful guy that is deserving of a political seat?

You just employed an invalid rhetorical device. Unless you can find anything I have posted supporting your diversion. :coffee:

"Rabid greenie-weenie voting bloc" = People sick and tired of development and overcrowded schools that are redistricted every few years.

My opinion of him running for County Commissioner is that "all politics is local". We already know for a fact that Mr.Lollar has a very strong following. Support for him is spread out all over the state. However, the fact of the matter is, the way the state's voting districts are gerrymandered - it's a hurdle to get a Republican elected. (At the state level) He does want to help affect change in the Maryland GOP, and this may be the best way right now. :yay:

There are several good threads around answering the accusations of the usual suspects who are questioning the integrity, military service and general experience of Lollar.
Here's one:

Never happen. They love that Robinson fellow up there in Charles.

I could have sworn the election results showed Robinson won by 80 votes - and I only saw a smattering of Graves signs around; KR's face is still plastered everywhere. He posted on his FB page a week or so later that it was finally official that he'd won - so it doesnt sound like he won by a large margin. A day or two after that, his FB page went dark, as he posted he was taking some time away from FB before the campaign starts up again. I don't like him much; he is a socialist with a global warming agenda. I feel he takes too much credit for things, ie, CSM building in Hughesville.
Lollars problem will be his lack of campaigning. His FB page doesn't even mention it, other than someone asking him if he's running and there being no reply. I haven't seen anything but a small article in somdnews saying he's running. KR did a great job of reaching out to several thousand ppl on his FB page and found his own niche being the "weather guy" (as well as the windmill guy). People see his name and even though there are a few contentious posts, for the most part it just gets his name out there, that he's a commissioner and he's working for us. Lollar would be well served to do something along the same lines - just get people who are ardent supporters to get used to seeing his name and hearing his "voice".
