The first was 23yrs. old,he went blind and legs just finally gave away, so i had to put him down.The second was 10yrs.old and had to be put down because of renal failure. Both were under vet. care their whole lives. I did all i could. They were family members not just dogs!

I know that feeling about the dog being a member of the family. I am sorry that you lost your two angels.

Condolences on your losses, that makes for a VERY rough year. Hope you find the perfect pup soon!

Now wait.. I was curious because I remember someone in here looking for a dog because they had lost two in the last year, and it was because their dogs were running loose and both got run over. I wanted to give her an opportunity to explain, and shed some light onto how good a dog owner she is (I'm assuming a she)

I like dogs as much as the next guy, and have had some great ones in my life. I wouldn't point someone to a nice dog that lets their dogs run loose to get hit by a car.

Besides, I'm sure everyone is more comfortable pointing her to a good dog now that they know the rest of the story.

Seriously, I wasn't trying to be an ass (well, not this time)

Dang I know someone that just got rid of one. He was big, trained pretty good, really behaved until they took his manhood away. After that day he was never right, he bit me 3 times, bit some kids, they tried to find a home but couldn't so they sent him to the pound

Wow...got an email today about a G/S that was put down soon as it came in to the shelter, as well as 5 cats...there aren't any empty cages for cats, shelter is chock full.
Surprised a little snip-snip would make him act like that, sometimes keeping the doo-dads make them a little more aggressive.

I tell you it was the strangest thing. I mean the dog is almost 2, I have been around it since it was a pup. Never did anthing till the snip. He also bit my cousins daughter a few times.... She lives in the house with him. He was always aggressive towards strangers but never family.
