Looking for a Kitten

I have a friend looking for a kitten for her grandma (her cat just passed at 16 yrs old) They are trying to avoid the adoption process at a shelter, they dont mind a fee just rather not wait to be approved and go threw all that crap. So with that said and the amount of kittens looking for homes does anyone know any available now? Thanks

It is really MUCH better if you adopt because the kitties are all tested for different ailments, they're micro-chipped. spayed & neutered. I forgot to mention..they have their shots. In reality, it's cheaper. Does Grandma know your Friend is looking to try to replace the kitty that passed? She might not want one just yet.

Got one of our through PAWS and the other from Friends of Felines. Both at adoption days at Petco. Very easy process and we'll worth what little effort was involved.

Does Grandma WANT a kitten? Or do other people think she needs one? Many *gifts* end up at the shelter.

If Grandma does actually want another feline, maybe they should consider getting an older cat that are often overlooked- but make wonderful pets! Depending on "Grandma", she many want a mature, more laid back kitty instead of a kitten that goes 100MPH.
Just my $.02

I saw a kitten I liked at Petco and had her adopted (through Charles County Humane Society) in an hour. It was a small fee but in comparison to the cost of a pet over the years not really that much.

I just got my cat through Charles Co. humane society last fall, quick and painless process, we were done in less than an hour.

The cat we just adopted was 7 years old, she is a sweet heart and I wouldnt trade her for a kitten any day.

Before I knew anyone in the rescue world; when we moved here, I called several looking for one to three older house cats that needed to be placed together; like if the owner went in a nursing home. I explained that I knew older cats were harder to place and we had just lost both of our (older cats) before relocating cross country.
We did end up with one PAWS cat that had been up for adoption for several years and he is timid and shy and cannot be picked up. Since him, four others have come into our lives and only one was an older kitten. Though most of them fight, I wouldn't get rid of them -well sometimes I threaten to...

If I am correct, the older kitten you spoke of was a stray that you found in your shrubs right? Shy-Anne was found behind your store too, so all of your kitties were rescues. Good on you, and anyone else that opens their home to the homeless babies. On another note, there are poeple that think the cats that are older than say, five, are just too old to enjoy. Not true. We adopted an older kitty almost 2 years ago, that was about 17 years old. He is still going strong, and is the most loveable cat we've ever had. He initially started out as a feral before our friend let him in his home. IMO...ferals make some of the most loving, and appreciative pets ever.

No, we got Zuma from PAWS as well. I think he was about 6 or 7 months old. And now that I think about it, Seamus was also a kitten- he was one of Cattitudes bottle babies- and he is so sweet. (Friends-of-Felines kitty)
So I lied....sorry.
Ivy jumped out of a bed of poison ivy down near the mailboxes. She was starving but had been fixed. Both Lola and Shy-Anne were unspayed adult females that were dumped outside.

Really, they need to take grandma to pick out her own cat so she picks out the one that she bonds with. I also recommend an older kitten/adult cat. The tri county animal shelter has a really good deal going on right now for the $5 and there are a lot of nice cats up there. I highly recommend they take grandma up there to check it out! Good Luck!
