Our 13 year old sweet, loving, friend Buddy was diagnosed with rectal cancer 2 months ago. He is part Sheperd/Rott. He has a mass of tumors on the inside of his rectum as well as a golf sized tumor on the outside. Buddy is clearly not living a quality life, and he seems run down & tired. The vet said that she could not even recommend surgery because she said that she doesn't think that it would be beneficial to him. And because of his age, even if he did have surgery, (if he made it through the surgery) there would be several weeks of pain afterwards, and then the effects that chemo would have on him, and there would be no guarantees that the cancer would not come back. We have decided that we can no longer let our beloved friend and family member suffer just because we want to hold on to him. It is not fair to Buddy. We would like to have our vet come to our home to help aid in Buddy's passing. If she will not do it, we will want another vet or a mobile vet to come to our home. If you know of any vets that will do this, please let us know. We would prefer that Buddy passes at home where he is most comfortable and surrounded by family instead of taking him to the vet's office. I know that this may sound over the top to some people, but when you have a pet and you love them dearly, they become a huge part of the family, and losing them is extremely painful. I have been crying for days. We will have Buddy cremated and then have his ashes brought home to be with us. If any of you can help by giving us some names of local vets or mobile vets that will come to our home, please let me know. We would appreciate it. Thank you so much.
