A gyne and gp or one stop shopping (disclaimer: MD required )

I've always seen the same NP for both, and I always found it very convenient but I also felt as though they take more time with family history, etc and spend more time with yiu as a patient

I was thinking that it might be time to find a gyne though, as i was told that i have fibroids when i had my youngest.

Is there a practice that deals with both general and gyne? Maybe a gynecologist with an NP?

Prefer a woman gyne, but would consider a man with good references

I always recommend Michelle Johnson, and went to her for 14 years, plus my daughter, until she moved. I see an NP, now, also, but if I had a concern I would go back to Dr. Johnson. I just received a pamphlet in the mail that says that their office guarantees now that you won't be sent away because of a delivery, emergency, etc. That happened to me a few times over the years, that I sat there for a while only to be told the doc had to leave. Everyone in that office is exceptional; highly recommend. I see in her bio that she specializes in uterine fibroids.

Dr. Michelle D. Johnson, MD, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Prince Frederick, MD

Thanks

How long would you say is lead time for an appointment?

So, you then have a GP too?

Lead time is hard to say because I have experienced getting appointments because of cancellations. As a rule, I would say 1 to 2 months, if you wanted Dr. Johnson. In addition, I was going to an Internist for last couple years, but didn't like her. I go to Calvert Physicians Associates now, because it is a one stop shop; unless, like I said, you have a specific concern, and want to see a specialist. They are like the new wave, so to speak, but I am not sure what Obamacare will do to how they operate.

DO NOT use:
Joyce W Neal MD
23140 Moakley St Suite 1
Leonardtown, MD 20650

I was having symptoms of cervical cancer and I was terrified it had returned. It was when we first moved here and I didn't have a doc, so I just picked one out of the phone book since I already knew the "routine" of having everything checked. So I went to see her.

THE DUMB BITCH TOLD ME I NEEDED TO GET ON BIRTH CONTROL.:smack:

OMG!! :cds:I stopped taking all forms of BC when I was 19 to DECREASE the odds of it coming back.

That's all I have to say on that.

I just started seeing Dana Russell, CRNP, MedStar Physician Partners at St. Mary's, and I love her. I have fibroids as well and in my late 50's. She is a one stop shop and is down home southern MD. She treats you like an old friend and will be totally honest with you. As much as I hate going to Dr.'s she makes it a little better.

Thanks. I hate going too which is why I've put off finding a doc here for so long. She sounds like the NP that i used to see. I give her office a call

How about her daughter, Dr. Sarah Johnson?

She is, but her appointments for physicals are booked through the end of january (debra hunt the end of september) and they won't accept new patients for "same day" sick appointments, which is the first time I've ever heard of such a thing

Maybe for new patients. I had mine last week with only a two week wait.

make an appointment with debra hunt. Become a patient. then schedule your physical.

Pretty obvious, but I'm having an issue now and they won't see me for a non routine physical

Sorry you are having an issue now. I don't believe any office will see a new patient for a "sick" visit though on the same day.

Wish I could help. Hope you feel better soon.

I found one! Hollywood medical center. I am seeing a nurse practitioner tomorrow, and since I've seen some good reviews on here I will be making an appointment for a physical at that time. It's also one stop "shopping," which is what I am used to and prefer at this point

Thanks for the help.

I'm happy that you found someone MarieB. I was going to suggest that you go the the E.D. if you couldn't find someone, the E.D. would give you an automatic referral to see a Gyn. if it is an emergency. Let us know how you like the new NP. Get well......
