Looking to start small business doing Home Theatre but not sure where to post...

First of all..I am not posting here to look for possible work. I am just looking to see where on this site I should post. I am not set up yet to begin work. I still have Insurance and other stuff to get. But here are my questions?

1. Is it worth advertising here? I figured I would start with a small ad and create a website. I am only looking to do it part time in the evenings and on weekends.

2. Where do I advertise? Looking in the classifieds under Service Directory it seems as if every category is listed except for Home Video/Audio. This really doesn't fall under Computers/Internet/etc or Home Improvement/Maintenance. And I don't want to put it under a General Topic in case no one looks there.

3. Is there a way to get a Home Video/Audio section added? It would be nice if it included Satellite/Cable and so on. I don't want to waste money putting an add up if no one sees it. I will have to spend enough money on materials to get started but I don't want to waste money if I can avoid it.

4. The next big question is would you look here for someone to set up you Home Theatre/Audio needs? Or should I find somewhere else.

I am trying to start this business because of Big Businesses which I won't name often sell you stuff you DON'T NEED!!! Alot of times they will tell you that you need a specific cable and it HAS to be that one when your cable/satellite provider already provides the cable for you. Then their salesperson's claim they aren't on commission...they may not get commission but they do get bonuses. Then they will charge you outrageous amounts of money to set up an item that you bought from them.

Anyways, once again I am just looking to get my previous questions answered and not currently looking for work. Just a basic idea whether it is worth it to advertise here.

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I do not know about advertising on this site in particular. I have not done so with my business-but I imagine you would get plenty of visibility on this one. What I suggest you when you are ready is:
1. Get your contact info on superpages.com. You can do this for free.
2. Check on rates for Channel 10-the local station where ads are placed for people read. It is a good way to reach people. I have had success here. Of course, I do not know entirely what you be doing...if you would compete with MetroCast.
3. People will look anywhere for their needs. So, if you have a service, there are people who will look for local people to do the work-why would you not post here? What you do is check the cost for advertising on this site, decide to do it and if it works, you have your answer. If you don't get the desired responses that you need, then you can go elsewhere.

Thanks very much for the response. I don't plan on competing with the cable or satellite providers. My business is only enhancing what they already provide. For example: People often buy HD tv's and then use either satellite or cable to get their HD Channels. However, what they are left with is cable or satellite boxes being added to their already cluttered tv stand. My business will involve relocating those boxes to an unused or partially used closet or basement. This involves setting up wireless IR or RF systems and remotes to controll any and all devices so that the customer is basically left with just a TV in the viewing area. I will also mount TV's on walls, put together TV stands together for them (at a much cheaper price than where they bought it), rewire low voltage wiring (cable RG-6 coax) including wall fisches. I will also install smart boxes in homes where I can. A smart box in case you are wondering is a centralized point in a home where your cable/satellite distribution point is and where you can set up a home network for use with the internet. This way you can basically plug in any pc to any outlet throughout the house and gain access to the internet.

These are just some of the things I plan on doing..however, no job will be too small. The large jobs will probably have to wait until I get more established.

I have noticed one thing with cable/satellite installers. They are not the neatest when it comes to installing outlets. My main goal is for a customer to be completely satisfied with all aspects of my work. Not only the quality of the signal but also the quality of the installation.

OOPS..now I sound like I am advertising. Sorry didn't mean that. I just wanted people to have a better idea of what I plan on doing.
