My Black Lab is missing. He was last seen late this afternoon. He is 10 1/2 years old, short, approximately 70 pounds and he has a block head. He walks with a limp on his front leg. He does not have a collar on and answers to the name buddy. Very very friendly. He is from the Charles County side of Brandywine.

Does he have a black lab buddy? Did you see Percy's thread about the 2 that showed up at her place?

Wait, I just re-read it. They are young with no block heads. Hope your pup comes home soon!

Yeah I saw it, but they big long snouts and buddy has a short one. I wish it was my Buddy, but he would have to travel some miles to get to Mechanicsville. I hope my guy comes home soon too, he has never taken off before. I have called the emergency vet in case someone brings him in there and if hes not home by morning I will call the shelter and humane society and make posters at work tomorrow. This just has not been a good year for me with animals, I have had to put 2 dogs down, 1 cat down and one dog that died. All this in less than less than 9 months.

I hope Buddy will be home soon!

Yes -- I am know I am going to get flack for this! Where we live, its a one street neighborhood, there are 30 houses and we are all pretty far from the main road! I live at the end of a flag lot so I am really pretty far back from even our one road that is our neighborhood. I just started to let buddy out all day without being in the pen this summer because he is older and not as adventurous and pretty much either camps out on the garage floor with the fans on him or on the porch or front yard, so yes he runs free!

I called animal control and they said that he was called in by someone who had never seen him before and didnt know who he belonged to, so they kept him at their house until animal control came and picked him up!

I think it was the neighbors to the side of us (wood seperate us) I cant see him travelling to the street, get gets tired just walking up the driveway!

No bashing here, but it might be worth having him chipped if he is going to be an outside "free-roamer". :huggy: When I was little (many moons ago), we never kept a collar on our dog. Everyone on the street knew who he was and he always came home. Most of the time, he was in the woods with us!! Things are just different now. Our kitties only go out on the screened-in porch or the deck with no stairs down. It's sort of a "kitty play-pen"!! Glad you got him home quick!!!!

Is he home?

You live on a horrible road. It is awful to think of a poor old dog having to negotiate that road. Please keep him in or on a lead of some type for his protection.

Yep the jailbird has been sprung! Boy was he a happy camper to see us.

Catt, I dont live on a bad road, I live near Dems but totally different area. Dems lives in a bigger neighborhood and on a cut through road, but we only have one road in our neighborhood and people pretty much go slow through here. Its not an uncommon occurance for people to leave their dogs out. On any given day I will have at the very least 2 dogs from the neighborhood make it to my house. I think I know each dog and where they live. Plus we are on a flag lot so we are behind houses and buddy doesnt usually roam. I talked to the animal control officer that picked buddy up, she said the lady that called it in had never saw buddy before so she thought maybe somone just dropped him off. She said the lady gave him a treat and put him in her garage until animal control came. Then they threw another treat in the truck and buddy had no problem going in after the treat. The lady at the front of the neighborhood said she saw the animal control truck come and go in a matter of 5 minutes, so I dont think it took too much convincing to get buddy in the truck! :lmao:

I am going to have him chipped. I am going to petsmart this afternoon to get him another collar and a name tag. Its usually the same on our street, pretty much everyone knows everyones dog, we dont really know each other but we know the dogs.:killingme I used to keep buddy in a pen during the day until my other dog passed away in January so this is really his first summer running free. I figure he wont go far, he gets tired just walking up the driveway (he is slightly overweight). We are on six acres and most of it is wooded, and he is usually pretty happy just walking the yard. I am extremely happy we got him home safely and quickly. He got lots of extra hugs!
