Lost cell phone...

...we found one up here in Frederick on Christmas day in a parking lot at the mall. We were taking a 'frisbee' break with the dog.

In any event, we powered it up figuring to just look for 'mom' or someone obvious to call, as they would know whose it was right away, so the owner could come get it.

Well, we can't very well use your phone to let someone know we found it if you've got the stupid thing locked. :tap:

So, keep that in mind folks, when you choose to lock your phone and it, inevitably, gets lost.

Just turn it in to the carrier, ie Sprint, Verizon.... let them deal with it.

On the other hand, it it wasn't locked, and you weren't the fine upstanding citezen you are, that would be a real problem for whomever lost it.

betcha there are some pretty interesting pictures on that phone

Physiologically impossible for me to care less. I think you can lock certain features, yes? In any event, all I wanted to do was let someone know where their phone was.

I'm not sure about locking certain features. Kudos to you for wanting to return their phone. Maybe at your next trip to the mall you can hand it in there. Or, you could just toss it....whatever :yay:

Found one clipped to a shopping cart at Giant the other day. I figured it must have been left from the day before since it was early in the AM. So I turned it on hoping to see "home" or "Dad" or something, but it was just a bunch of names. I thought about calling one in case caller ID would help, but I just gave it to the lady at customer service.

We set it on the newspaper machine by the entrance to the mall which was closed or we would have taken it to their lost and found.

I found one in A&W once. I called "mom" and let her know I had her kdis cell phone. She was very thankful and the kid got his cell phone back. But now that I think about it, I have mine locked :cds:

Some phones and apps allow you to customize your lockscreen banner, so that you could put a phone number visible to anyone finding the phone, or an email. no need to unlock it, and they can find you easy.

It's built into JelllyBean, just did it on mine in about 30 seconds.

This one had that feature "Emergency Number" and we clicked it.

 They took it too literally. It didn't call it, fortunately. Just brought it up to be dialed.

Maybe so everyone's contact information (names, numbers, some addresses, pictures, etc) aren't available for the person who finds the lost phone. Unfortunately, not everyone's a "Good Samaritan" :ohwell:

And then what? "Hi. I'm with New Comet and we'd like to sell you..."

There is nothing on my phone so super secret that I wouldn't gladly have anyone check it all out while I am on my way to get my phone back.

because it's a touch screen and I found myself constantly pocket dialing everyone and sending texts such as

Ok, but, mine, touch screen, after a minute or so, or by pushing a button on top, goes into 'safe' mode where you have to 'unlock it' to use the keys. Mine is a simple swipe of the finger to unlock.

That wasn't exactly what I was thinking

Okay, you lose your phone and a "bad guy" gets it. This bad guy starts going through your phone and sees you have nice things...you take a picture in your living room and you have a big ol TV with a computer, iPad and whatever else in the background. Then, he looks and sees "Home" or "The Ball and Chain" and tracks down where you live and BAM....there goes your big old TV and computer and iPad and whatever else they took EXCEPT they leave your phone with this note: "If only you had your phone locked..."

OR, you lost your phone and a "bad guy" gets it. This bad guy starts going through your phone and sees you have a beautiful wife or beautiful children..................................

Though neither of those things are likely, it could happen. Don't you watch TV?

Mine can use a few different methods, from my face to a pin or directional swipe code, or a single swipe, or none.
