Lost Cell Phone

Nothing to see here
Okay, I believe my cell phone fell out of my jacket pocket sometime over the weekend. The battery is dead. I call the phone number and it automatically goes to answering message. I am going to search the house all over during this week and if I can still not find it, I will call and have cingular deactive it.
I called the places where I believe it could have fell out but no one has reported it being found. It is a new phone that I got about a month ago so with 2 year contract. Does anyone know if I can get one off of ebay and take it to Cingular and have them activate it in replacement of the lost phone so that I do not have to have another phone contract for it as well?

If you haven't reported it to Cingular yet then do so. I have a Verizon phone and when it got lost/stolen I reported it soon after it happened and they said no one would be able to activate it via verizon because it was flagged as missing/stolen. Cingular should be able to activate whatever you bring them but wouldn't hurt to call first. Hope that helps. Sucks to lose a phone!!

Verizon charges $20 to activate a phone (ie. you acquire a phone before your contract renewal date)

Good luck finding your phone. I replaced a phone mid contract with Verizon. I went the E-Bay route. It was advertised as 'new, never opened' but I suspect now it was a refurbished phone. Before a year was up you couldn't call out on it and it literally fell apart. You might be better off buying the cheapest new phone you can find through a store and wait out your contract.

Have no idea about cingular but deactivating and activating a Verizon is free if you do it online.

If you have the cellphone insurance, you can make a claim and the deductible will be billed to your next bill. You will receive your phone tomorrow. You do have to notify cingular so that they can deactivate your service. It's just a matter of getting a new SIM card if you're going to buy a phone from ebay. If you decide to go w/ cingular, you may have to pay full price for the phone if you don't have insurance. If you're eligible for an upgrade, this a good time to get it. Hope that helps.

I deactivated the phone for now. I am waiting to bid on a new phone off of ebay that works with cingular and then will pay to have it turned on.

Did you call Cingular? they should be able to send you a new sim card and continue service. I had to get a new sim card and it was free. The shipping was 5.95 but that is better than going into the store where they charge you 25.00 for a new sim

if you have a verizon account, you can get a new phone from where ever you wish.
then, as long at that phone is compatable with the verizon service, all you have to do is go to WWW.Verizonwireless.com and change the phone over yourself online. the number that they ask for is going to be located on the phone ID tag under the battery.
there is no charge to do this. its free if you do it on line.
they do this to try and reduce the lines at the verizon stores.

I only know this because I just changed back to my old non camera flip phone from my newer camera flip phone because the buttons on the side of the newer phone kept getting pushed in my pocket and turning off the ringer.

So, now I once again am using my old reliable phone with no frills.

Im happy, and we now have another spare camera phone in case one of our other ones go bad.

I lost mine...I had to buy a new phone and just activate the new one and cancel the old one. I did not receive any extra charges other than buying the new phone.

If you just got the phone it may still be under an insurance plan. Be sure to ask the carrier.
