Lost Dog!!

My dog ran away 11/30 from Aquasco (southern tip of P.G. near Hughesville). We think that he is in Charles Co somewhere! He has supposedly been sighted by three different people on Gallant Green Rd behind Randy's BBQ and Everything Amish. The lady at Everything Amish said she saw him Friday evening running across all four lanes of Rte 5. He hasn't been spotted since!

He is a German Shepherd mix (possibly mixed with Collie). He is black and tan like a Shepherd, but has a long coat and floppy ears. He was wearing a red collar and a silver choker collar. He is ten years old, so he has a little greying around his mouth and nose. Oh, and his tail has a curl to it.

His name is Claus and is intimidated by strangers, so he probably won't come to you. But, if you happen to be in that area and spot him, please call 301-335-2620 right away.

If it was him that was spotted on Gallant Green Rd, he has been eating dead deer (roadkill), so I know he's pretty hungry and skinny by now.

Please, if you know anyone that lives in that area, please notify them as well. Help return my baby home!!!!!

**Edited to add that there is a reward for his return!!**

Please go to this link for his picture -

I spend a lot of time down that way and will leave early for pool league today and swing by looking for him and ask a few folks. Also, pm your email address so you can send me a picture of him. I am friends with the owners of Moorelands (across from Gallant Green) and I'll ask them to put your picture up for your dog. Also tomorrow morning, I'll drive around and look around that way for him a bit for you too! Good luck! I have seen a flyer for a similar looking dog - was that your flyer on Gallant Green and Truman Manor?

I don't know where Truman Manor is, but I did put a flyer on the stop sign at Gallant Green Rd (both ends). I must have 60 flyers up throughout the areas between Aquasco and Gallant Green.

I do not have a picture on this computer (I'm at work), but I can post one tonight!

Thanks everyone! I know it's been three weeks today, but I cannot give up on him. I've had him 10 years. Ironically, he was found on the streets as a puppy and I took him in.

well, I have some experience in this. A few years ago my cat Sage was stollen in that area too and I havn't for one moment given up on her. The neighbors in the various neighborhoods are very helpful and I posted a big reward and the neighborhood kids helped look everywhere too even some adults looked for her. It gives the kids somehting rewarding to do. I'll ask some of them if they've seen a dog matching your description. Did you mention whether he has a collar on or not? Have you tried calling animal control or anything?

Yes, I've contacted all the vets in Waldorf as well as Tidewater Vets in Charlotte Hall (they also have the flyer with his pic). I've filed a lost dog report with Charles Co Humane Society and I check with Tri-County Animal Shelter twice a week. I also check with PG Co animal control everyday, just in case.

Yes, he is wearing two collars - a red one and a silver choker collar. Once he crossed Rte 5 to the southbound side, who knows where he went from there. I'm just shocked he didn't get hit by a car. He's a very hyper dog, so he usually doesn't sit still for long. He could be half way to Va by now. :(

I appreciate everyone's responses.

Randy's BBQ has a flyer, as well as Everything Amish. It's like he fell off the face of the earth. I miss him so much and pray everyday for his safe return. I don't have children, so he's my kid. I miss putting Christmas lights on his dog house this year. :(

Thanks you guys, I'm so glad I thought of posting here.

Oh, I forgot to mention that there is a reward for finding him.

A long shot but.... There is a dog that matches that description at the house across from my kids daycare in Lusby. The kids have been going there for months and I've never seen a dog across the street at all. As of this week there's one that matches that description on a chain in the front yard. Maybe someone picked him up and brought him south???

Yes, that is a long shot. How long has he been there? Is he a hyper dog (jumps off of all fours a lot and barks a lot)?

I'm just insulted that I was referred to as "he". LOL I'm a female! ;)

I will PM you.

My uncle just called and said he was talking to someone that's been in that area and claims he saw Claus on Monday on Mason Crossing Rd (I think that's the name) off of Gallant Green Rd. I have no idea which road that is, but I can find it. I think I'll post some more flyers through there.

You said he's not good with strangers, but will he still come if a stranger calls him by name? I'm just wondering, if he gets found how me or friends of mine can hold him until you or someone can get there?
