Softball and another volunteer went to Waldorf last night and did some searching but no luck. We need to talk to the owner's today and see WHAT they are doing. Otherwise we may be headed up there this weekend w/more signs (Laminated). She is such a shy girl that if she is scared it's going to take patience to get her to come out....

K,
We're off tomorrow and can head up to look. Also, I know someone in that area that is off during the day and will forward the info and pictures to her. Hopefully she can search today. I thought about her last night during the storm...:jameo: Was hoping to read some good news about her this morning.

One of our fears is that she still has the leash attached and has wrapped herself up tight in the woods...

Can you make signs and take them? If not maybe I can get someone to make them and meet you guys somewhere...

If someone can make the laminated signs before tomorrow it would be good. That way time isn't wasted doing it tomorrow. Can you give any more information on where she was when she got loose? Which direction she was heading, etc? I'm assuming Animal Control and Humane Society in Waldorf have been notified by now. I will also post it on petfinder and pet detective. I saw the listing on somd.

I'll have to have Softball give you that info. I've got a laminator I'll see if they can get them done tonight.

I have a laminator and a lot of laminating sheets, about 80 of them. If needed I can pick up some more at wally world. Can someone send me a mock up of a poster and I can start laminating as soon as I get back from the vet. PM me and I will give you directions to my house to get the posters. I hope they find her soon! :bawl:

I'll be around today and keep a lookout. :huggy:

Thanks! She escaped in the subdivision of Spring Haven West on Rt 228, it backs up to a subdivision/some houses on Hamilton Rd. We searched a few streets yesterday, scoped out 2 wooded areas...no luck. Knocked on a couple doors and spread the word as well to some kids we saw in the neighborhood. My biggest fear is that her retractable leash is bound around some trees in the woods, she can't get loose and has no food/water...it worries me sick...She's been missing since early Tues morning...Keep your fingers crossed she turns up soon...Thanks for all of your help. :huggy:

Well...I wasn't there, but my understanding is, the new owner went to switch hands using the retractable leash, accidentally dropped the leash on the ground, and the noise startled Sara, and she bolted...he couldn't catch her.

Retractable leashes are not the best to use anytime. The force of one flying out of your hand could really hurt a dog. Please consider using regular leashes for all of your dogs. PSA for today.

Any Luck? If you need an extra set of paws in on the search, I can go out looking with my GSD this afternoon

Thanks! Just saw your post. People have been out all day today searching the woods and just got a call that she has been spotted. She no longer has the leash and collar on but ran when she saw them. Don't even think she looked long enough to recognize her foster mom and her dog. Now thinking a live trap may be our only chance. Anyone know where to get one tonight? Would hate to have to wait until Monday when Animal Control opens. She is about 30 pounds now.
