Marcus Smith ought to be ashamed of himself for this stunt. Humpy Wheeler did a lot of things to sell tickets. Setting the price of tickets based on the number of cars swept up in an accident is absolute :bs: and is beneath any other promoter.

$14 Cup Tickets on Sale at Noon Monday in "Big One" Ticket Buster Special

The official number of cars collected in the biggest wreck, coined "The Big One," during Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega, Ala., was 14. As a result, Lowe's Motor Speedway will sell 1,000 tickets combined to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on May 16 and the 50th running of the Coca-Cola 600 on May 24 at only $14 beginning at noon on Monday.

Fans can purchase tickets at this special price by visiting the Lowe's Motor Speedway ticket office or calling 1-800-455-FANS. Tickets sold at the special rate will be limited to five per customer.

"The Big One" occurred unusually early in Sunday's 188-lap event, when several cars got together on Lap 7 while racing into Turn 3; setting off a chain reaction that involved 14 cars.

Lowe's Motor Speedway is the home of NASCAR's biggest back-to-back weekends next month with the 25th running of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and 50th Coca-Cola 600. Ticket packages and payment plan options for both events are available through the Lowe's Motor Speedway ticket office by calling 1-800-455-FANS or online at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

NASCAR's just a little angry about this stunt.

Crash offer irks NASCAR | www.thatsracin.com

A top NASCAR official expressed some clear displeasure Monday about a Lowe's Motor Speedway promotion tying ticket prices to how many cars were involved in the biggest accident at Sunday's Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway.

The LMS promotion was announced last week, a couple of days before seven fans were injured in a spectacular wreck on the last lap Sunday at Talladega.

“To be honest, we'd rather not dignify that type of promotion with a comment,” said Jim Hunter, NASCAR's vice president of corporate communications, during a news teleconference Monday afternoon.

Even with that $14 a ticket promo, it STILL won't sell out.
Bet you see many empty seats down there @ the end of May..
