We are having a new front porch installed and I needed a new flagpole, holder and a dusk to dawn light.
First I went to Sneades in Lusby and what a terrific waste of time that was and I was reminded why I never shop there! I could not find anything I was looking for and there was no one on the floor that offered to help me. They seem to be trying to be a mini walmart with one stop shopping with lots of gift items, clothing, foods and spices etc. I thought it was a hardware store  I walked around twice and saw an assortment of garden flags but must have missed the aisle with American flags and accessories. I don't need a new flag but figured if I found one, I'd find the other stuff I was looking for.
Anyways...headed over the bridge to Lowes and found exactly what I was looking for quickly with the flag pole and adjustable holder. Two different "associates" said hello. I went to the lighting aisle and it was cordoned off but the lady asked what I was looking for and when I got to that aisle, a gentleman helped me find the light I wanted. He was pleasant.
I proceeded towards the garden center and was smiling and another gentleman started a conversation with me and I told him and another lady that works there "I'm smiling because I'm happy I came in. Everyone has been helpful and I got exactly what I needed".
The cashier and I chatted and she was great, too.
I know firsthand how difficult working with the public can be and try to always be friendly and polite.
Lowes employees get 5 stars. The local joint gets none.

So what your telling us is that you found a portal to 1996?

Sneakers

Just sneakin' around....
After COVID, I think they remain closed on Sundays. I've heard complaints about that, too.
That's not entirely a bad thing. Sure, it's convenient to find something last minute on a Sunday, and it may be the only time that some busy workers can get to the store, but I would be ok with stores being closed on a Sunday again. That used to be the norm. You just try to anticipate your weekend needs.

Why not be closed on Saturday too, that's not entirely a bad thing. And also it wouldn't be a bad thing to be closed on holidays like Yom Kippur or Eid ul-Adha. Or is it only not a bad thing for Sundays?

But people are all about convenience. I remember the days when most stores were closed on Sundays and many families went to church and then sat down to a Sunday meal together.
Those days are long gone. Unfortunately.

I am very glad to read that you had a good experience at my employer's store.

If I may ...
For your consideration ...

Yup. And most families had a badminton setup, and/or croquet set, for family/friend leisure time. And plenty of board games for the rainy days.

Stores closed early on Saturday in many cases.
