(SYKESVILLE, MD) –Lieutenant Governor Boyd K. Rutherford will join Maryland State Police Superintendent, Colonel William Pallozzi as the keynote speaker for the 149th Trooper Candidate Academy Class Graduation Wednesday July 3, 2019.
The trooper candidates have endured 25 weeks of rigorous training in a residential police academy that demands their very best, at all times. After graduation, each trooper is required to complete eight weeks of additional field training with an experienced trooper before they are able to patrol alone. Families, friends and fellow members of the Maryland State Police and other law enforcement agencies will be present at the graduation ceremony.
This class includes 39 trooper candidates. Eight are military veterans, three are prior MSP cadets, eighteen have college degrees, and the Class President is following both of his parent’s footsteps into the Maryland State Police. As a class, they participated in the 2019 Special Olympics Maryland Law Enforcement Torch Run raising over $1000 for Special Olympics.
