lyme diseases

Little ol' Me
I found the bulls eye on my yellow lab last night, I have a call into the vet now. Has anyone had an animal get Lyme Disease? If so what can I expect?

Thanks in advance

Our lab had ehrlichia, which is actually worse than lyme...for dogs anyway.

The vet will probably test your dog for both and put him on doxycycline, even if he tests negative, just to be sure.

I am assuming that she has Lyme because on her chest is a huge blood red bull's eye mark kinda like a huge bruise.

Never heard of ehrlichia???

Good read, Wow your poor dog.

Yeah, he was a mess. I thought he was dying (he was about 10 at the time). He couldn't lift his head and you could tell he was very sore. His neck was very stiff and swollen. After a few days on the antibiotics and some pain medication, he was fine.

Aww poor baby, glad to hear he is all better.

Now see that is the thing she doesn't seem to have any discomfort or anything..

Both diseases have different stages so IF she has either, she could be asymptomatic now.

The vet just called and said that dogs do not get the bulls eye like humans do, so it could be anything. She said they are booked today but personally she would just keep an eye on it to see if it gets bigger or goes away. If does change I should then call for an appointment.
