Macro flower

I got some Kenko extention tubes today and tried them out on my purple leaf plumb tree flowers. They are about the size of a nickle. I didn't have much time so i added all three to my 105mm for maximum magnification. This shot is full size with only the ends cropped to make it 8X10 format.

Definetly going to have to read up on focus stacking as i had trouble getting good DOF. If you try to close the aperture down you have to do long exposures. Even on the tripod with a shutter release when at this much magnification i was getting blur when doing long exposures which i assume was from something moving.

you might have to start using a stacking program to increase DOF. The image turned out nice. I should be getting my extension tube this week. My Telephoto is not a Macro tele so it needs the tube. my 12-60mm zoom is a macro and can get pretty close with it.

Try this

Shoot with lens Wide Open ~ But use a shield with a small hole on outside of lens. A small funnel from the kitchen will do or a lens cap with a centered hole drilled in it.

At that much extension only the small center of the lens is focusing the light you need. The rest of the lens is bouncing light all over the place causing diffraction.

Most use off cam light as well.
