How come you need a breeder? Can't you check around the animal shelters?

Good luck trying to find one. I tried all the local rescue's and the MC rescue club on Yahoo....no luck. I tried for months and just gave up. I wanted a rescue and didn't want to go to a breeder. Maybe in the spring I will try again...keep me posted if you have luck finding a place. :flowers:

I'm not trying to be dumb but when I looked at the pictures I didn't see any difference between a Maine Coon and a regular cat. Whats the difference?

Maine Coons are usually very big cats...20+ pounds...usually very lovable and just want to be in your lap, playful even when they are old, tend to have markings and fur kind of like a lynx or bob cat. They are also I believe the first "American" breed. But you are right...lot of people have MC cross. The dead give away is the tufts on the ears, and fur around the neck like a mane.

We had a gray cat that maybe was mainecoon or at least part. He was beautiful with the tufts on the ears. He was huge too. Sadly he passed away a year or so ago. I miss him.

Maine Coon For Adoption

Hi! I have a Maine Coon that I am looking for a GOOD home for. I have had her since she was a kitten and since I have had my second baby she is loosing her mind. She does not do well around small kids or other animals, she is very sweet and would never bite or scratch, it just stresses her out. She has lost weight I had the vet check her out and she seems fine, just stressed. So if you know anyone looking, I'd like to hear from them. It's the hardest decision I've ever had to make, but I know she would be happier. She will be 7 years old on February 16th, She's Black and White and has been spayed.
