Hi

Im quite the math geek myself but I am in need of someone with even more math geek mojo than myself.

I am looking to find the derivation of how you develop a least squares best fit for any function (particularly nonlinear rational functions). I had this once in a graduate math class but figuring I would never need it again I trashed my notes and sold my book back after the class was over.

I remember it involves higher order derivatives and possibly a jacobian.

Oh yea figured this topic would be the one with the most geeks in it.

Found it, I was close....partial derivatives and matrix inversion.
