So how was it?

This park we're at in Fort Stockton has a little restaurant on premises and their specialty is chicken fried steak. In fact, CFS is apparently a big deal in south and west Texas in general. I have always been grossed out by it and had never had it...before tonight.

It was good, but still gross and it's unlikely I'll ever eat another one.

I love me a good chicken fried steak. But I always get the white gravy on the side. Hate when they goober it up so you don't even know what you're eating.

It was delicious! I think the next time I make it though, I may add just a little sherry or white wine to it. Very easy prep. I have never liked CFS! It always seemed tough and chewy. There are some terms that just dont go together, chicken fried and steak is one of them! IMHO.
