Man Charged With Stealing Wi-Fi Signal

Yes it is stupid to broadcast without protection.
It is just as stupid to leave valuables lying in your car with the windows down.

It is legal to search for and find people broadcasting without protection.
It is also legal to LOOK into cars with their windows down for valuables and not take anything.

Just because people are stupid, trusting, or just plain clueless does not mean you can jump on their unsecured network.

Just because you break into an unlocked car with the windows down does not make it any less of a crime than breaking into a locked car with an alarm.
Same goes for getting on a unsecured network is the same as breaking into a secured encrypted network, it’s just harder, but the same laws are broken.

I go out and find many unsecured networks but I NEVER get on them.

SO ALL YOU PEOPLE OUT THERE LOCK UP YOUR WIRELESS ROUTER

Yes I know it works “right out of the box” but I also know what channel it's on and your password.

if you will
My sister-in-law is such an angel. In her condo in NoVA, she fired up her laptop for the first time and found no fewer than 5 unprotected wireless networks. But she refused to use them, and proceded to use her 56Kb modem. Now that takes some self-control, eh?
