You know, just Giant implementing this says a lot profits trumping politics. The company likely is tired of the bad publicity when it closes a store due to theft.
I guess it was a year or so ago when Giant in Dunkirk put in some anti-theft programs. Only had one entrance/exit, limited self-checkout to, I think, fifteen or twenty items, kept the shelves stocked somewhat lean. I know they were having some vandalism/tampering issues at the same time-boxes of things like rice and cereal being opened, packages of meat being unwrapped. Stuff like that.
