Way back when I was a technician at Purdue's rocket labs, I found an old gas-turbine powered lightweight field generator...milsurp..hiding in one of our storage buildings. It was crank started like those tanks....wore my ass right out getting the silly thin spinning to the "start" line on the tachometer. Got 'er running though!

Air Planes also used Inertia Starters I've see them spinning up a Bf 109


to odd ones INHO are the ones that us 12g shells to spin the motor
