This shelter is probably even more "unfriendly" to work with than Tri County, but they still try to work with you to get animals adopted.

Do you know the status on the poodles? The poor brown, I think red/apricot looks to be in terrible condition. Why don't they clean them up prior to pix,, it's a shame and I'm sure it's that they don't have the time or funds to do so??? Paso, sweetheart :huggy:, is going to pretty up Honey for her pix.

I know it looks pretty rough... I'm not even sure who take the pics, the shelter or volunteers for Pet Harbor, I do know that their pictures have finally gotten better, they used to really stink...

If you want to call and inquire just tell them you are a volunteer w/my group.

I'm planning on being at the "grand opening" of Peppers Pet Pantry on Solomon's on Sunday if you want to come by, or you can mail. Send me a PM if you need the address.

I have edited this from another thread...

For all the RESCUE GROUPS: in 2008, we will be hosting pet adoptions and meet & greets every Sunday at Pepper's Pet Pantry in the Solomons Plaza in Solomons. We are the strip mall next to Boomerangs and are located between the Solomons Vet and the Patuxent Adventure center.

There is plenty of room indoors if the weather is bad; otherwise we can hold events in the parking lot with tents, etc. We encourage groups with banners to bring them. Some organizations, but certainly not a complete list I have spoken with are: Calvert Co Humane Soc, SMAWL, Friends of Felines, PAWS. Second Hope rescue, Greyt Expectations and Collie Rescue of Baltimore. Many others have not responded nor confirmed.

I do have an area in the store that will be dedicated to the pet adoption and rescue groups and pet related businesses for advertisement. The more information we have on the wall, the more I like to think we can help people make "educated" choices on the breeds of dogs they wish to adopt.
For the 501C3 groups, all I ask is that you put the events in the newspapers and any other media sources to advertise these Sunday gatherings.

We will also have fundraisers and in particular, my goal is to help raise funds for Southern Maryland Spay and Neuter, Inc

Any group interested in participating in the meet & greet adoption events, please contact me soon as I have made up a calendar through the end of Feb.
Our Official grand opening is Sunday January 20 and Greyt Expectations, Second Hope Rescue, and the Humane Society of Calvert County will be there (with both cats and dogs). Also Ellen from SPOT thrift shop which raises money for So MD Spay& Neuter. Lisa from "Gone Groom'n" will have her mobile grooming van there and we also have 2 ladies that have bandannas and an embroidery machine for doggie-dannas! Raffles and snacks/beverages.
Let's hope for great weather!

Feel free to drop off business cards or literature. The store is open 11-7 Tuesday-Friday. Saturday and Sunday noon to 5PM.
