Public Hearing Scheduled for Recommended County Budget
LEONARDTOWN –The Commissioners of St. Mary's County (CSMC) began their business meeting with an invocation and the pledge, followed by approval of the consent agenda.
The CSMC then presented proclamations in recognition of Equal Pay Day.
During County Administrator Time, the Commissioners took the following action:

- Reviewed future CSMC meeting agendas.
- Approved the letter to the Maryland Department of Transportation on St. Mary’s County Transportation priorities for FY2026.
- Received a status update on the local Comprehensive Plan update, St. Mary’s 2050.
For their main agenda items, the Commissioners approved requests to schedule public hearings on the following topics:
- Amendments to ZONE24-0040, specifically to change the land use designation of the property at 20698 Goddard Road in Great Mills from Rural Preservation to Mixed-Use Medium-Intensity; and the property's zoning district from Rural Preservation to Medium-Intensity Mixed-Use (April 29, 2025, time TBD).
- The establishment of an Active Volunteer Fire Fighting and Rescue Squad Response Rewards Program(April 22, 2025, 6:30 p.m.).
- The FY2026 Recommended Budget(April 22, 2025, 6:30 p.m.).
