I am thinking about taking my 12 year old son out of the Catholic School he has attended since he was in pre-k and putting him in Margaret Brent. Tired of the :bs: going on at his current school.

Anyone have any comments, positive or negative about MBMS? Any help you can provide in helping us make this decision is greatly appreciated. TIA

What catholic school is he in now??
I don't know anything about Margaret Brent, BUT I think that Middle School is a horrible time to take a kid OUT of a private school environment and throw them into public....

I took my child out of Catholic school when he was entering 8th grade. It was fine. I think it depends on the kid.

MBMS is a good school. Teachers in 7th grade are very nice and making sure kids are where they are suppose to be. So far a good year for everyone!

I took my kids out of Catholic school and put them in Margret Brent and it was a great move for them. Margret Brent has a GREAT principal who was a AP at Chopticon...and some great teachers too!

I pulled my son out of Mother Catherine in 7th grade and put him in Margarent Brent. Best move ever! I was sorry I didn't pull him out sooner.

I've heard the same thing from other parents. MBMS is a wonderful school. I don't think you'll be sorry at all.

My kids are in Catholic school. My oldest has just started Chopticon. He says he wished he'd switched to MBMS just for the social side. Academically though, any school is what you make it. He's in all Honors and CM classes (no AP until sophomore year) and for the most part is bored. The only classes he finds challenging are Spanish (because its his first exposure) and Engineering. He struggled through middle school because it was so hard and right now the teachers say he's got almost all As with a high B or 2.

I don't think I ever told you about Br's 1st day of high school. She and I have this tradition that has been going on since kindergarden where I drive her to school on the 1st day of school. I pulled to the back entrance of LaPlata High where we went for orientation thinking this would be less intimidating. She looked out the window at the students and said "they're big".... go around to the front of the school :jameo: as I was getting close to the front of the school she said no go around back :jameo: I told her that it will be okay :huggy: and we can not drive back and forth all day, you have to make a choice . Just as I was getting ready to make what I was hoping was the last trip around the school there was a knock on the car window and K's sister who was a senior stood there  beaming with a grin from ear to ear. She saved our day. We still laugh about that day.
