Anyone been to Marie's Diner in LaPlata since it became Marie's Diner again? I used to eat there occasionally before it was sold and became a mexican restaurant, but when I went past a couple days ago, I saw the sign says Marie's Diner again and says Under New Owners, is it the same as it was before they sold or something new?:patriot:

New owners - not same as before the Mexican fiasco. Food is much better than before - and larger portions. If you order three pancakes - bring an appetite.

They are currently only open for Breakfast and Lunch - 7 days/week.

Daily lunch specials.

Good southern maryland menu. Local patronage with several regulars atmosphere. Debbie and Sandy are still there as waitresses - both have over twenty years at that location & no telling how many owners.

I live in La Plata and have breakfast or lunch two or more times every weekend. My wife has breakfast there almost every day.

Methodically disorganized
I had breakfast there once when it was a 'Mexican' place - seemed pretty American to me.

My mom and grandmother have breakfast there at least once a week, and they think it's great.

Back before they changed, the portions were HUGE. We use to go there about 2x a month as kids and into my adult years, when they sold out it was :blah:

Glad to hear they have brought it back to its roots... I wonder if family members brought it back.

It is under new ownership, but not the original Marie's Diner owner.
Food is very good and they hope to eventually have a dinner menu similar to what Marie's was long ago.

No, new people.

Country breakfasts are back at new version of Marie's

Longtime Charles County residents will certainly remember Marie's Family Restaurant. After a long run, a new owner bought it and opened El Ranchito, which lasted for about two years.

Now the Crain Highway establishment is Marie's Diner, and even though it is really Bobby Cooper's diner, the former real estate agent bought the restaurant with every intention of recapturing the old aesthetic of hearty breakfasts and a choice of chipped beef or sausage gravy over white toast.

Open since November, Marie's Diner — a no-nonsense, seat-yourself restaurant — has caught on fast.

Just listen to the chit chat: One lucky patron claimed to be eating the world's largest fish sandwich. Another looked up at her server and said, wide-eyed, "this place is soooo good."

Sign out front says open for dinner on Fridays 4-9pm. I never could figure out what their hours were. They always seem to be closed so I just go for breakfast occasionally. Mmmmm.....sausage gravy over biscuits and a side of bacon

The wife and I stopped in at Marie's for a late morning (10:30AM) breakfast today. Hadn't been there for a couple of years but was pleasantly surprised-good food, prompt service and reasonable prices.

I picked up a business card when I paid the bill-the hours are listed as 6:30AM through 2 PM Saturday through Thursday, Fridays 6:30AM-9PM.
