So it has been years since we went to Marie's Diner in Laplata and when have been missing out on some good food.

If you want a good home cooked meal with large portions at a cheap price, you have to stop in.

After rediscovering this gem, we will be visiting there on a regular basis.

Its worth stopping in. :buddies:

We ate breakfast at Marie's this past Sunday. We got there around 9:30 and had to wait about 10 minutes to get seated. I had the chipped beef over toast. It was :yum: It was a little saltier than how I make it, but still very good! I also tried the loaded home fries. Very yummy!

When we were coming out, there was a line outside the door waiting to get in.

Trying to get in there on a Saturday morning is next to impossible, unless you go at oh-dark-thirty. Try their corn fritters if you go for dinner. They are :drool: :drool: :drool:

While driving in LaPlata yesterday, I noticed that the sign in front of Marie's advertised:

Bourbon dinner, September 20th.

Now, I'm not sure what that means, and I normally can't get my guy to go out on a Friday night, but his eyes lit up when I mentioned bourbon dinner.

Each night they have a different special thats not on the regular menu. This must be a new dish they are trying. If I wasnt going to the M&G, I would head down there and try it.

Their FB page says it is a choice of 3 dishes (pork tenderloin, filet mignon or duck), each dish being made w/Bourbon and Maker's Mark reps will be on-site for tastings on Friday, 9/20.

Their chipped beef is to die for. Stop in Wednesday night for the fried chicken. :yum:

I drive by this place, but never have tried it. Looks tiny, and the parking lot is always crowded. Didn't they try to Mexanize their lunch/dinner for awhile?

The people who owned it before made it Mexican food. They sold it to the current owner who's food is more like a good home cooked meal. No mexican foods now.
