Former SMCM varsity sailor Markus Edegran '16 won the U.S. Olympic Trials in the men's formula kite event that concluded January 13 in Miami, Florida. Edegran held the lead for the majority of the 8-day, 26-race event.
The United States has yet to qualify for the men's formula kite in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Edegran will have a chance to do so at the Last Chance Regatta in Hyères, France, from April 20-27.
In February, another former varsity sailor, Leo Boucher '23, will be in Miami for the U.S. Sailing Olympic Trials in his event, men's dinghy.
