Cyber Cop

Dear Friends of Marlow Heights 60s and 70s:

Well, it’s been two years come New Year ’s Day since I put the site up, and what changes we’ve seen. For one, it was a year ago the end of November I relocated from Florida to Silver Spring, and the Washington Times did a feature story on the site. This past summer that I was reunited with a very, very good boyhood pal of mind, Billy Hull, who found me through this site. I attended my 30-year reunion of the Potomac High School Class of ’76 in September 2006. There was the second annual Mighty Mo reunion in June, and I’ve heard from many old friends and classmates that I had been out of touch with for over 30 years. Read on for more Marlow Heights and vicinity memories.

Recollections

Got some gems here. My classmate from Stoddert Jr. High School, Dan Collin, sent in some recollections and pictures from 1973. One is a 9th grade teacher, Mr. Lea, in his white shoes and cowboy hat, and classmate Robert Fleming. Even more pleased to see the picture of Dan and another classmate, Steve Lund, on their way to a trip to Luray.

Have a photo of the halls of Stoddert here from 1978. Remember jumping up to “tap” the clocks?

And another of the Stoddert band, circa 1960:

XM Radio’s tribute to WEAM and WPGC
XM Radio “60’s on 6” does a tribute show every Friday evening, highlighting a Top 40 radio station from the 60s. There was one specifically for WEAM in 2005, and one in 2006 for WPGC, WEAM, and WBIG. The latter was put together when WBIG, formerly the oldies station in the DC area, changed formats to, “The Greatest Rock and Roll of All Time”, in 2006. You can buy these programs on CD from Vuolo Video Air-Chex.

Silver Hill Elementary School. A classmate of mine, Dan C., sent a class picture of his 1st grade class at Silver Hill ES:

When did Silver Hill Elementary School first come into being? When was its second iteration? I’ve received numerous comments about this, but no one seems to be in complete agreement.

Whatever Happened To...?
More updates here, and it’s all organized in alphabetical order by last name:

Potomac Class of '76. I haven't heard from many classmates since our reunion in September 2006. What happened? I had a great time at the reunion (as I thought many did). I know we need to get back to our lives, but…let’s stay in touch. Also, if anyone has an "official" class photo, please send me a copy to post on the site. And if anyone took pictures at the reunion and would like them to appear on the site here, pass ‘em on.
