I am looking for a small martial arts school in St.Mary's. The discipline and style are not as important to me as the size and focus of the school. We are looking for a small school that focuses on self-discipline, concentration, conflict resolution and avoidance, and appropriate force.
Any recommendations would be great. TIA

Check out the Leonardtown branch of Master Shim's Black Belt Academy, Taeqwondo. You should be able to do a search engine search and find the website. My daughter is doing very well there.

Those interested in enrolling your kid or even yourself into a Martial Arts class should visit St Paul Methodist Church in Lusby. Beginner classes are every Tuesday and Wednesday night at 6pm. The Lusby School (Dojo) is affiliated with a network of schools across the country that is Christian based and therefore nonprofit. What that means is there is no cost to the student to attend class other than for personal items such as a uniform (Gi) and protective padding. So whether you have a desire to learn self defense or to become physically fit you should at least visit the school and see if it meets you or your Childs expectations. There are no age restrictions for attending but parents should note that kids under the age of 8 “generally” have a much harder time focusing in these type classes and therefore please consider carefully yours and their time is actually worth the effort.
