Is pushing her new book. Since she got shown the door at CBS she needs to eat and Dan Rather wont return her calls.

So she took to the airwaves on O'Reilly tonight. It was a rivteting interview, very enlightening.

BO: Are you a liberal?

MM: I dunno

BO: Registered Democrat?

MM: I dunno

BO: You showed sympathy for Sheehan?

MM: I dunno; Just her divorce drug in the news and personal stuff drug out by the conservatives.

BO: Did you sympathize with Sheehan?

MM: I sympathize with McCain and everyone who have been savaged by the Bush Administration.

BO: Do you think she is legit?

MM: I dunno:shrug:

BO: Do you agree with what she says?

MM: I dunno

BO: If you report a story about a president, days before, do you have a responsibility to be sure beyond a reasonable doubt you are telling the truth?

MM: I believed them, 4 years I worked it.

BO: But you couldn't prove it.

MM: Enough people believed it.

BO: Yea but they fired you.

MM: Yea CBS is afraid of the conservative blogers. It all boils down to finances.

Just when I thought Susan Estrich was the most annoying person in the world along came Mary.

In a nutshell her hatered of Bush was so evident but she is not sure she is a liberal or a democrat. She might be an independent :yay:

Super Genius
I thought it was funny that she said that she ignored the document experts because she believed the document. :dork:

They just had her on Fox and ED grilled her ass. Mapes talks in circles and contradicts herself frequently. I'm surprised she was stupid enough to write a book, then hit the talk shows to promote it, considering she's not very good at this and should leave it to the professionals.

She kept trying to say that they knew the document was forged, but that the allegation was true. ED is like, "Then why didn't you get real evidence instead of a document that you knew was garbage?"

"Because we knew the information was correct."

"Then why didn't you use real evidence?"

"Because we knew the information was correct."

"Even though you didn't have any real evidence?"

"We had plenty of evidence."

"Then why didn't you use that instead of a forged document?"

"Because we knew the information was correct."

And on and on....

E.D. asked her...

...why the three document experts she used contradict her assertions and state that the documents were not vetted properly.

Mapes said, first, there were four, not three, and that there are two kinds of 'vetted'. I missed the next minute or two trying to get the coffee out of my nose.

ED asked her if she wasn't suspicious of the documents, Mapes said "You're always suspisious when it regards politics so you proceed as though there is an agenda behind them."

More coffee out the shnoz.

Then, the guy who supposedly helped W get into the Guard (thereby avoiding any risk of draft) ED said "but that guy is a well known W hater, right?"

Mapes: "Yes, but he was known to help people get into the Guard, therefore..."

Gotta make a living somehow.

She said that what she, as a news producer, considers "vetting" is different from the normal definition of the word that us commoners understand. That was when I shot coffee out my nose.
