Kids and parents rejoice -- the Maryland Bay Game: Explore & Restore is now available at libraries, State Parks and visitor centers statewide! For the 17th year, DNR’s popular activity booklet is back with educational games, activities and challenges for kids to learn about and connect with the natural world around them.
“The Maryland Bay Game helps families enjoy the great outdoors while encouraging sustainability and stewardship,” said DNR Secretary Joe Gill. “The booklet is designed to help parents and teachers talk to children about how the small daily actions they take today, can make a big difference in the health of our water, land and air tomorrow.”
The 2014-2015 edition focuses on how the health of our streams and the health of the Chesapeake are interconnected. Pages feature Bay Game Bingo, Stream Sudoku, and the State Park Challenge, as well as hands-on activities that show readers how they can help protect these waterways, along with the habitat of plants, fish and wildlife throughout the Bay watershed. The book also highlights the Maryland Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights [ http://www.dnr.state.md.us/cin/BillOfRights.asp ] and features the artwork, photography and poems of the 2014 Color Maryland Green winners [ http://www.dnr.state.md.us/education/cmg_about.asp ].
