In accordance with orders by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, the College of Southern Maryland has lowered the Maryland state flag at its campuses to half-staff in honor of Maryland Delegate Michael Erin Busch.
“On behalf of the College of Southern Maryland, I extend our deepest condolences to the family of Maryland Delegate Michael E. Busch, who passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2019,” said CSM President Dr. Maureen Murphy. “He was a strong advocate of education and supporting our youth, having been an educator and coach for many years. As fellow citizens of Maryland, we honor Mr. Busch’s strong commitment to public service over 32 years, and especially his dedication as the longest serving speaker of the House of Delegates.”
A member of the House of Delegates representing Anne Arundel County, Mr. Busch served as Speaker of the House from January 8, 2003 until his death. Further details on the former delegate and his service to the state of Maryland is available in the Maryland Manual On-Line at https://msa.maryland.gov/msa/mdmanual/06hse/former/html/msa12196.html.
Flags will be returned to full-staff at sunset on the day of interment.
