If you recently retired or your income was reduced by COVID, you might be able to take advantage of the homeowners property tax credit program. The link to the website with more information is below. There are some restrictions. Since it is based on gross income, you would probably have to wait for 2020 income tax documents to prove your income. I just wanted to share in case it could help someone.
What is the Homeowners' Property Tax Credit Program?
The State of Maryland has developed a program which allows credits against the homeowner's property tax bill if the property taxes exceed a fixed percentage of the person's gross income. In other words, it sets a limit on the amount of property taxes any homeowner must pay based upon his or her income.
