Maryland malls begin to close for coronavirus, including Annapolis, Arundel Mills

Malls in Maryland are beginning to close following closures of restaurants and bars and the postponements of many events the week before.

A statement on the Westfield Annapolis mall website states:

In response to the widespread COVID-19 outbreak and after carefully reviewing the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and public health authorities’ guidance to practice social distancing and minimize public gatherings, our center will join the collective fight against the COVID-19 outbreak and temporarily close the majority of its operations.

Some retailers may still be open so that ‘essential’ retail remains in operation for customers. While we will endeavor to reflect these store hours on this website, please confirm their hours directly.

If you have questions, please reach out to annapolis@urw.com.

We encourage everyone to stay safe and look forward to reopening soon to support our community.

A statement on the Arundel Mills mall website states:

After extensive discussions with federal, state and local officials and in recognition of the need to address the spread of COVID-19, we will be temporarily closed. This measure will take effect from 7pm local time today and will end on March 29.

The health and safety of our shoppers, retailers and employees are of paramount importance and we are taking this step to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

It's only going to get worse, way, way, worse. The hype and fear mongering, edicts, orders, decrees, from all levels of government, and the media, is going to cause, is causing, and will take a serious toll. What is coming will make the, 1920's, '30's, great depression, and everything since then, look like a cake walk. The American, psyche, landscape will be altered, forever.

Yup. I'm serious. We have yet to see the, market, bottom. Look around, not just here, but outside the US. This is a global meltdown. The financial domino's are falling. New York has pretty much declared martial law, as has California, and other States will most likely follow. Other Nations have as well, and more will. Exactly what do you think happens when no one is working? No one getting paid? Everything stops. Manufacturing stops. Massive unemployment. Depression Era massive unemployment. Distribution stops. Foreclosures, repossessions, etc. There will be a but shadow of a financial market when all is said and done in the pushed, 'it's gonna be at least 18 months for this to go way', put out government and the media. Will the market recover? Sure. For a historical perspective, just look to the Great Depression recovery, and how long that took. Get you head out of the sand and make preparations for the future.
