my emissions notice arrived today, so because I am old and had my Metamucil already, I drove to the emissions center in Prince Frederick..

I forgot why I was there, because I am old... but I opened a new box of chicklets gum...

anyway I noted on the bottom of the emissions form that I could get a waiver if I was 70 and that car isnt driven more than 5,000 miles a year.

Check, check, sign..

The clerk did his job and gave me a receipt that says I waived, BUT come back in 2028... Damn!!!!! I'll be younger then??????

Thankfully, St. Mary's doesn't have emissions checks. I'm swapping my failing EFI system out for a carburetor and HEI distributor. I'm tired of having the truck disabling itself whenever it sees fit, leaving me to have to go through the one hour reset procedure that doesn't always work the first time.

Do these emission checks also check for out of state registration?
Wouldn't they be exempt? I believe this is tracked by MD MVA via registration. I could be wrong.

This is so easy, even I figured it out. VA has personal property tax on vehicles and the current tax stickers are displayed on the windshield for easy identification.

Any time I see a VA plate on a hoopty, I try to check the windshield for these stickers. If no tax stickers are present, chances are the car belongs to a non-VA resident.

Yeah.

Nothing brings a smile to my face quite like the muffled, echoing cries as the elevator doors close behind me.
:killingme...For some strange reason....I can relate.

I had to quit crop dusting our electronics department after they correlated very noticeable deteriorations in air quality with my otherwise rare visits to that company space.

How does one register a vehicle in VA and not pay the personal property tax?
