Gov. Martin O'Malley has ordered the Maryland state flag be lowered to half staff immediaetly in memory of former State Senator J. Robert Hooper from Hartford County. It must be flown at half staff until sunset the day of the funeral.

This action is required under the Protocol of the Maryland State Flag.

This is totally off topic but...... does anyone know where I can buy a state flag? I've looked at local stores (Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart) and can only find American flags. I would like a Maryland flag to hang at the house.

Guess I'll have to break out the measuring tape when I get home and measure our American flag. I'm going to ask hubby for one for Valentine's Day. I'm not a flowers/candy kind of girl.

Just measured mine.....3 x 4 7/8".........so I'd say 3 x 5.........:buddies:

Did you know that you are supposed to fly the Maryland State Flag on a flag pole with a cross on the top? Has something to do with the Royal charter for Maryland or somethiing like that.
