(WESTMINSTER, MD) – Maryland State Police have arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery at a Finksburg convenience store in Carroll County in August.
The suspect is identified as Daniel Merrigan, 29, of Hagerstown, Maryland. He is charged with four counts including armed robbery, robbery, second-degree assault and theft in connection with the incident that occurred on August 3, 2019, at the store located in the 3100 block of Baltimore Boulevard in Westminster.
Merrigan was arrested without incident this morning at his home in Hagerstown then transported to the Carroll County Detention Center for processing where he is awaiting his initial appearance for a bail review.
The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from the clerk behind the counter. After obtaining the money the suspect reportedly fled on foot behind the store.
A news release issued that day resulted in several members of the public being able to identify the suspect, who was arrested and indicted by the Carroll County Grand Jury today.
Troopers from the Westminster barrack, along with members of the Criminal Enforcement Division Western Region assisted with the apprehension.
