(PIKESVILLE, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating an assault that left a Maryland prison inmate injured Wednesday night at the Maryland Correctional Training Center in Hagerstown. The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services contacted Maryland State Police after the inmate was found on the floor during a work detail on a housing tier.
The inmate was transported to a nearby hospital. He is not being identified until family can be notified. Maryland State Police Homicide Unit investigators are conducting the investigation with assistance from the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigations Unit.
