State Police Maryland State Police Investigating Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash In Charles County

(HUGHESVILLE, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in which a man died Thursday in Charles County.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police (MSP) La Plata Barrack responded to a report of a single vehicle crash in the 14500 block of Burnt Store Road (Maryland Route 231) in Hughesville, Maryland. Due to the seriousness of the collision, a request was made for a Collision Reconstruction Specialist to assume the investigation.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 2017 Honda Civic driven by Colton Trent Perry, 24, of Hughesville, MD was traveling west Maryland Route 231. Perry lost control of his vehicle, traveled off the roadway and collided with a tree. After colliding with the tree, the vehicle reentered the roadway and came to a rest. Perry was transported to the University of

Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland, where he was pronounced deceased.

Perry’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Baltimore, MD for an autopsy. According to a preliminary investigation, alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the collision.
