The driver of a Jeep Cherokee, whose identification is being withheld pending next of kin notification, was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver, a 50-year-old male, and a passenger, a 51-year-old male, of a dump truck, as well, as the driver of a Subaru, a 24-year-old female, were transported by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
Around 3:26 a.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack responded to the area of southbound Interstate 95 at Interstate 695 for a report of a three-vehicle crash. According to a preliminary investigation, the Jeep was traveling southbound when for unknown reasons, struck the rear of the dump truck. The impact of that crash subsequently caused the Jeep to become stationary in a travel lane. Police believe the driver of the Jeep exited the vehicle and was subsequently struck by the Subaru, which additionally struck the dump truck.
All lanes have reopened. Assistance on scene was provided by troopers from the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack and the Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, as well as, personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, Baltimore County emergency medical services, and the Baltimore County Police Department.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the active and ongoing investigation.
