Shortly after 11:10 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack responded to the area of northbound South Fountain Green Road just south of Foxborough Road in Bel Air, Maryland to investigate a motor vehicle crash. According to a preliminary investigation, a 2001 Honda Civic was traveling north on South Fountain Green Road The driver of the Honda, identified as William Daniel Wagoner, 47, of Forest Hill, Maryland, for unknown reasons, drove off the northbound shoulder of the road and struck the curb.
The Honda continued across the front lawn of a home on the 800 block of South Fountain Green Road before crashing into the guide wires from a utility pole. The impact with the guide wires caused the Honda to rotate and overturn before it struck a Ford F250 that was parked in the driveway of the home. Wagoner was pronounced deceased on the scene. The road was closed for about two hours following the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
