(COLLEGE PARK, Md.) – Maryland State Police are investigating a four-vehicle crash in which one person died and three others were injured early this morning in Prince George’s County.

Shortly after 4:15 a.m. troopers from the College Park Barrack responded to a four-vehicle crash at northbound Interstate 95 south of MD Route 212. According to a preliminary investigation, a Honda Civic being driven by an unidentified female, collided with a Mitsubishi Gallant, driven by Keith J. Hingle, 31, of Beltsville, Maryland. Initially, investigators believed that the Honda was driving south in the northbound lanes of I-95, but that has yet to be determined. Hingle was not injured in the crash.

The Honda then collided with BMW 325 driven by Olayanju T. Kayode, 35, of Laurel, Maryland, who was partially ejected through the windshield. Both vehicles then collided with a Lexus RX350, driven by Earl L. Ross Jr., 46, of Mechanicsville, Maryland. Kayode and Ross were transported by ambulance to University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center for treatment of their injuries.

The Honda then traveled into the right shoulder and caught fire. The BMW became disabled in lane three. The driver of the Honda was entrapped in the vehicle and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Prince George’s County Fire and EMS Department. The road in the area of the crash was closed until about 9:20 a.m. this morning.

The Maryland State Police CRASH Team is assisting in this investigation and the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with the road closure.

This incident remains under investigation.
