On Friday, Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Acting Secretary Dennis R. Schrader visited Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in East Baltimore for a vaccination clinic supported by Johns Hopkins and the Maryland Vaccine Equity Task Force (VETF). Read more.

  • Tuesday, March 23: First Baptist Church of Glenarden, Landover (980 doses)
  • Tuesday, March 23: First Baptist Church of Highland Park, Landover (200 doses)
  • Friday, March 26: Kingdom Fellowship AME, Silver Spring (128 doses)
  • Friday, March 26: Islamic Center of Maryland, Gaithersburg (200 doses)
  • Friday, March 26: Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, Baltimore (176 doses)

PROGRESS IN TARGET ZIP CODES. The hard-hit zip codes where the VETF is partnering with community leaders to hold vaccine clinics are showing significant improvement in vaccine uptake.

SIX NEW MASS VACCINATION SITES. Governor Hogan announced that the state will partner with local jurisdictions to add six mass vaccination sites, doubling the current number of mass vaccination sites in Maryland:

  • In early April, the Timonium Fairgrounds site in Baltimore County will be converted to a mass vaccination site, and in partnership with Montgomery County, a mass vaccination site will open at Montgomery College in Germantown.
  • In mid-April, mass vaccination sites will open in partnership with Frederick County and Anne Arundel County. Announcements will be made when dates and locations are finalized.
  • In late April, mass vaccination sites will open in partnership with Howard County and Harford County. Announcements will be made when dates and locations are finalized.

ABOUT

The Maryland Vaccine Equity Task Force (VETF), led by Maryland National Guard Brigadier General Janeen Birckhead, works in partnership with the state’s 24 local health departments to focus COVID-19 vaccination efforts on underserved, vulnerable, and hard-to-reach populations to ensure the equitable delivery of vaccines.

The task force will leverage resources with close ties to key communities, including the state’s Vaccine Advisory Group, the Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives, the state’s network of Medicaid providers, and additional public sector and community partners.
