Massachusetts Trip

About the same as Valentine's Date night in Chicago...or about the same as Bush spent on many trips in 2008.

If the trip is purely political than it is suppose to be paid for with campaign dollars, if however POTUS makes one stop no matter how short for a public service speech then the whole trip including all the support service is on the taxpayer.

Works both ways

I'll bet that the other side of the aisle has done the same thing. But don't let that get in the way of the point you are trying to make. After all, we hate "dem liberals" and that's the idea that has to stay in focus.

Therein lies the challenge; which side, if any, stops this stupidity? It seems completely reasonable to me that ANY sitting president should NOT be allowed to go flacking for anyone.

...and what's your point here? As long as we can place equal blame on both sides, then it's OK to just keep doing it? Brilliant.

I agree...once they are elected, they are supposed to be representing ALL the people. It should be verboten, IMO.

I'll make this real simple.

My point is that one shouldn't ask how much the trip Obama made to Massachusetts to help the Coakley campaign cost when the very same thing is being done/has been done by folks with a different political view.

I do think--as has been noted in other posts--that the Democratic Party/republican party covers the cost of these trips. I have no answer for you if the total cost of the trip is covered.

I apologize for that being so difficult to understand. I will do better next time.

So, you'd rather two wrongs than simply say neither side should be doing it? Is that correct?

Would THIS face lie?
Anyone have any idea how much this campaign trip to Massachusetts is costing the taxpayers?

One did not mention Obammy's name....I don't give a fat baby's butt who does it...I think it is wrong for a sitting POTUS to go campaign for anyone on the taxpayers buck...Does the DNC or RNC pay for all of the security and the jet fuel and the etc's, etc's, etc's? You would think he would have some other important matters to take care of....

Please...

Nobody mentioned Obama's name? OK, you're right. Here's how all of this fun began:

Obviously, there are a number of trips that were made to Massachusetts over the weekend. Silly, I thought the President's trip on Sunday was what you were talking about.

No, I don't like the idea of taxpayers footing the bill. And as was suggested, I think the Democrats and GOP National parties pay a portion of it.

Man, sometimes it's liking pulling teeth around here.

What's done is done, whoever footed the bill on behalf of Coakley was money thrown in the trash like she will be when Scott Brown wins the peoples seat of Massachusetts tomorrow!!! :dye: :buddies::howdy::drummer::yahoo:

For this reason, I don't think they should be allowed to mix. No "planting trees at grade schools" while on the campaign trail. One or the other, not both.

Funny you should say that.

So, you are not willing to say that Obama nor Bush nor President To Be Named Later should NOT be out campaigning?
