A massive fire at a homeless encampment beneath an underpass in downtown Los Angeles has shut down the 10 freeway indefinitely.

The fire occurred on Saturday in two storage areas beneath the freeway that also hosted a sprawling homeless encampment.

“The incident, which closed westbound and eastbound lanes of the busy freeway between Alameda Street and Santa Fe Avenue, will significantly affect traffic in the area, officials said at a news conference Sunday, without offering a timetable for reopening,” noted the Los Angeles Times.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said Angelenos should expect the freeway to be close for some time.

Just sneakin' around....
News last night didn't say it was a homeless camp, but an area for storing used pallets, and showed pics of lots of pallets going up in flame under the overpass.

They polished it up before broadcast.

Pallets don't spontaneously combust, so it makes sense that it had help from a buch of vagrants.

Haha : pointsandlaughsatCAtards :

The problem is the durhards who voted for this and are now whining about it will end up moving to TX or FL to get away from the policies they created, and will proceed to try and turn their new home into the shithole they left.

happy to be living
We moved from so Cal almost 20 years ago and there were many homeless people living under the overpasses on the 10 freeway back then and on the streets of LA. I cannot imagine how bad it is now...

That kid of heat cause concrete to Spall the heat causes small pockets of air in the concrete to become pressurized and force pieces to fly off.

The concretes exterior may be ugly but because of it's mass it is probably still strong and after inspection the bridges will be open again ,and after ten years or so they may put some spackle on it to make it look better.
